Eolo Lodge
Approximately 45 minutes west of El Calafate airport, Eolo Lodge is conveniently located halfway between the town of El Calafate and Los Glaciares National Park, home to spectacular Perito Moreno Glacier. The lodge itself features 17 impeccably furnished guest rooms, each featuring expansive views of the surrounding countryside, decorated with characteristic understated elegance. This 10,000 acres property is a paradise for horseback riding, mountain bike rides, trekking, bird watching and, of course, to fully immerse yourself in the subtle luxury of the lodge.
Fine gastronomy and outstanding Argentine wines feature heavily in the culinary experience. Guests gather in the main bar to exchange anecdotes of the day’s activities and to relax before sitting down to an elegant meal, artfully presented by the hotel’s expert chef.
The activity coordinator will arrange all of your outdoor experiences, from hiking to mountain biking, bird watching to four wheel drives, and optional horseback riding tours. Off the property, visits can be arranged to the massive Perito Moreno Glacier and the miles of walkways to view the glacier from varying elevations. For those inclined, an optional trek onto the glacier itself may be arranged, or a short boat cruise along the face of the glacier.
Estancia Helsingfors
The lodge is surrounded by a majestic natural landscape, protected by lush woods which give way to a panoramic view of the lake, Mount Fitz Roy and the Andes Mountains.
Nine spacious rooms, each with en-suite facilities, are decorated and designed with an exquisite taste, combining colors and textures that blend in with the environment. Guests share their experiences around a large fireplace in the living area or enjoying a drink at the bar. A refined cellar with selected Argentine wines accompanies the delights of a sophisticated regional cuisine.
Activities include a number of hikes and horseback rides for all ages and abilities into the surrounding hills to view glacial lakes, pristine forests, and to catch a glimpse of Fitz Roy peaks and the mighty Andes.
Aguas Arriba Lodge
Aguas Arriba Lodge is located along the shores of Lago del Desierto, just north of El Chaltén, part of the 1700-acre Estancia Rio de las Vueltas.
The Lodge is a rustic style mountain cabin, made entirely of wood. The six rooms in the lodge consist of two premium corner suites, boasting spectacular views of Fitz Roy peak and the Vespignani glacier. Three lakefront premium suites offer tranquil views of the lake and glacier, and one north-facing suite has beautiful views of the surrounding forest. Meals are made from fresh garden ingredients and are hearty enough to fuel the day’s activities, which consist of a variety of hikes into the nearby hills and mountains. Anglers can hire gear and a guide for spectacular fly-fishing in nearby streams.
Estancia Cristina
Located on the northwest shores of Lake Argentino, Estancia Cristina occupies a remote corner of the Los Glaciares National Park, accessible only by boat. Strategically built on a glacial valley formerly occupied by the Upsala Glacier, one of the area’s most spectacular natural settings, the Estancia is surrounded by picturesque views of snow-capped mountains, lakes, rivers and hanging glaciers.
The main area of the Estancia, commonly referred to as the “Octogon” because of its unique shape, houses the reception area which offers round-the-clock guest services and assistance. Each of the Estancia’s 20 guestrooms features a private bathroom, central heating and amenities. The large bow windows open onto breathtaking views that help guests disconnect from the outside world. In line with this off-the-grid experience, guestrooms do not have phones, TV or wifi. Internet is however available in the public areas of the Octogon for those who need to connect.
All included activities take place on the Estancia’s grounds and surrounding national park. The Estancia offers short self-guided walking or mountain biking circuits, as well as longer excursions where bilingual guides will accompany guests on treks, horseback rides, and four-wheel drive (FWD) or fishing expeditions.
